Proposals, Micro Weddings, & Small Party Policies


  • We do not currently offer private events/party rental space at the McGill Rose Garden. Proposals and elopements are offered during public hours, but no private area can be reserved or guaranteed.

  • All seating is first-come, first-served. We do not take reservations. We ask that any event you’re hosting be limited to around 10 guests. The largest table we offer seats a max of 10 guests, and we ask you to limit your table use to one table per group to allow other patrons to share the garden.

  • We kindly ask you not to move furniture (especially the farm tables) and not to move any furniture to the ceremony area. Our ceremony space is sacred, and the grass is roped off to preserve the area for our wedding clients who have paid to use the garden.

  • We ask your group to be mindful of others in the garden, especially in the event of a wedding rehearsal, which typically takes place on Friday afternoons during wedding season.

  • The following items are prohibited: ceremony arches, outside furniture, confetti, rose petals of any kind, and music. We do not allow large-scale decorations to be brought in for any occasion.

  • We do allow some tabletop decor, but the following items are prohibited: crafts including painting, glitter, or glue, and candlelight. We also do not allow hanging decor from trees and lighting, artificial petals, confetti, rice, or anything harmful to nature.

  • You are welcome to bring in your own food. No outside alcohol is permitted.

  • We do not allow outside chairs, tables, or furniture to be brought in.

  • Please be considerate of other guests in the garden.
